May 9, 2024 (Glens Falls, NY)- Grammy Winning Music Icon Crystal Gayle will join CMA Winner Kevin Richards as his next guest in the coveted Kevin Richards' Country Concerts 'Close Up' series. The multi-award winning Music Icon will bring her incomparable voice, music and stories to the intimate setting of the Charles R. Wood Theater on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024. Gayle was the most performed Country Female Artist of the Decade on Radio 1975-1985, winning major music awards from The ACMs, CMAs and Grammys. In addition, becoming a pop culture icon as a sought after guest on TV shows, variety shows, mega music events, and magazine covers- even recording the theme song to the popular soap, 'Another World', with Gary Morris.
Crystal Gayle is one of the 'Leading Ladies' of Country Music, with over 22 #1 hits and 34 top 10 singles in Billboard and Radio & Records. In addition to regular appearances on the Grand Ole Opry, the superstar has many groundbreaking accolades including the First Country Female Artist to achieve Platinum Sales of an album (over one million copies) for 'We Must Believe In Magic' (1977). hosted two of her own CBS Television Specials (79, 80), The First Country Female Artist to Perform in China (with Bob Hope), and even appeared on Sesame Street and The Muppets! Gayle's mass appeal led to a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, #2 on People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World (83), and induction into the Native American Music Association Hall of Fame (2001) and The Cherokee Medal Of Honor (2000).
Crystal will bring her esteemed catalog of music to the cozy theater, with very limited and exclusive premium seating (290 seats), as part of Radio Personality, Kevin Richards', well-received Country Concerts 'Close Up' Series- which has already featured dozens of Grammy Winners and Hall of Famers, including Randy Travis, Larry Gatlin, Aaron Tippin, Suzy Bogguss, Ty Herndon, Billy Gilman, Billy Dean, Michael Twitty's tribute to his dad Conway Twitty and Georgette Jones' tribute to her parents George Jones and Tammy Wynette. In 2024, Richards will welcome Doug Stone, Kathy Mattea, Pam Tillis, T.G. Sheppard, the return of Billy Gilman and the Ultimate Patsy & Loretta Tribute (see schedule below).
Richards launched the Country Concerts 'Close Up' series in 2022 with the mission of putting great 'Throwback' Country singers and songwriters back in the spotlight, where fans can hear and see every note- complimented by his award winning 'Live On Stage' interviews (recorded for his radio shows). The series, originating at the Charles R. Wood Theater in Glens Falls, NY has expanded to include shows at The Cohoes Music Hall in Cohoes, NY.
