Changes Coming to Webster Ave. in Major Project

The City of Glens Falls is warning motorists that beginning August 5th, a major project will commence on Webster Avenue in the northern portion of the city near the Queensbury town line.

According to a release by the City of Glens Falls, the project will include the following:

  • Vehicle & pedestrian traffic signal improvements at the intersection on U.S. Route 9/Glen Street & Fire Road
  • Sanity sewer repairs
  • Water main valve replacements
  • Drainage improvements
  • Areas of new curb, sidewalks, driveway aprons and curb ramps
  • New street trees
  • Street resurfacing
  • Pavement Markings.

Webster Avenue runs through the northern portion of Glens Falls between Glen Street at Crandall Park, to Bay Street near the cemetery.

Work on Webster Avenue is slated to start August 5th, run through the rest of the construction season where work will pause for the Winter, and resume in the Spring of 2025.  While work is being done, residents and travelers should expect lane, road and sidewalk closures while the work is done, and that alternate routes should be sought.  The work is being done through contractors Peter Luizzi & Brothers Contracting Inc.   They will work together with the city to minimize disruptions, and will place detour and closure signs as needed.

Glens Falls Mayor Bill Collins says "the combination of the work above and below ground represents significant and long-lasting improvements to the Webster Avenue neighborhood and for the entire City of Glens Falls."

Target completion of this project is July of 2025, weather and conditions permitting.
